Night of the Museums Recap 2026

The Night of the Museums was a resounding success: around 1,600 visitors created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the building. A highlight was the immersive light installation »The Magic of Bird Flight« in the Freylinghausen Hall, with its fascinating interplay of movement, light, and sound. The Cabinet of Artefacts and Natural Curiosities offered guests exciting insights into the history and selected objects from around the world during short guided tours. For the last time that weekend, the annual exhibition »300 Years of Curiosity: Hidden Knowledge in the Cabinet of Artefacts and Natural Curiosities« was open. Three exclusive tours led by our curators provided once again very special insights into the exhibition. The Kulissenbibliothek (historic library) and the cabinet exhibition featuring the magnificently illustrated volumes from the Cabinet of Artefacts and Natural Curiosities’ reference library also offered interesting details about the collections during several short tours. Families and children in particular had a great time searching for clues in the orphanage, where they discovered hidden doors and secret hints. The illuminated Lindenhof Courtyard invited visitors to linger and ensured an all-around successful evening. We thank all participants and guests for this evening and are already looking forward to the next Night of the Museums!
