We wish Albrecht Koch a happy 90th birthday!

Some at the Francke Foundations still know him personally from his time as president of the Friends of the Francke Foundations e.V. from 1999 to 2014. Since 2016, this native of Halle and former student of the Francke Foundations has continued to show great dedication to his old school town as honorary president of the Friends of the Francke Foundations.

His tenure has seen numerous support projects at the Francke Foundations, such as the establishment of various funds and bequests that continue to provide grants for children’s and youth programs at the Francke Foundations, the dedication of various monuments and memorial trees on the foundation grounds – including the A. H. Niemeyer bust in the foundation’s green space next to the Mägdeleinhaus, the coats of arms of Halle and Glaucha on House 24, the establishment of the plant garden starting in 2008, the expansion of the Family Competence Center for Education and Health in the House of Generations starting in 2010, the Friends’ Association’s grant for the redesign of the »Orphanage Cabinet« exhibition in 2013, and the support for the renovation of the Latina, particularly in 2013 and 2014.

Now, on May 27, Albrecht Koch can celebrate his 90th birthday at his home near Frankfurt am Main. We join in extending our best wishes for health and happiness and send him our heartfelt and grateful greetings from Halle!
