The Cultural Aperitif is back, taking place every third Wednesday at lunchtime, featuring concise guided tours and a convivial finale.

Every third Wednesday of the month, we invite you to a 25-minute guided tour at lunchtime, which presents an extraordinary exhibit and its history in a concise and entertaining way. To round off the event, we serve an aperitif. 

On this day, your ticket serves as admission to all exhibitions.
Tickets can be purchased at the Information Centre four weeks before the event.

The programme begins with coffee, tea and chocolate, which were still regarded as exotic in Germany around 1700 and were even frowned upon in some places. Research fellow Gabrielle Robilliard-Witt presents »A Pharmacy Ledger«, in which she uses an unassuming ledger from the orphanage pharmacy to recount surprising stories about the taste of tea, the tea trade and coffee in the foundations of the early 18th century. Everyday life. Afterwards, an aperitif invites guests to round off the evening in a convivial atmosphere.

Ready for life? A quick visit with the school-leavers of yesteryear

Since the 19th century, pupils from the Francke Foundations have been registering for their school-leaving examinations by submitting detailed CVs. Kerrin von Engelhardt examines archival sources to see how these prospective school-leavers described their »educational journey« as a movement through space and time – as a new beginning, a detour, and sometimes even as a stumbling block in turbulent times.
